EPS waste is extremely versatile and can be recycled, over and over again, into new products or used as a fuel for power generation.
The Sunde Group operates rigorous waste management disciplines at all of its production plants to ensure minimal environmental impact and has strategic alliances with recycling companies.
All Sunde Group plants operate a Zero Waste Policy.
EPS waste can be recycled in three different ways.
Back to packaging
The waste material is granulated and blended with virgin EPS foam beads to make new EPS mouldings. It can also be blended with virgin crystal polystyrene and re-gassed to make EPS loose-fill packaging.
Recycled EPS can be made into video, DVD and CD cases, coat hangers, plant pots and many other everyday plastic products.
EPS waste can be extruded and made into a hardwood substitute to make products such as garden furniture and window or picture frames.
EPS waste can also be used as a fuel to generate power.
Around 100 tonnes of EPS is recycled every month in the UK.
